I have been a fan since the NCIX days. The OG Beanie was so good that I ended up buying almost all of the colors. It was so comfortable that I eventually started wearing only the OG beanies, as every other beanie I tried just wasn’t as good. I was really sad when they stopped selling the OG Beanie, and I always hoped they would bring it back especially since I ended up losing two of them over the years.
I was extremely excited when LTT started selling the new RGB Beanies. However, after receiving the RGB Beanie, the first thing I noticed was that it felt very different. After checking the material, I discovered that the RGB Beanie is made of 90% acrylic and 10% wool. Thinking that might be the reason for the different feel, I checked the material of one of my OG Beanies and was shocked to find that it was 80% wool and 20% acrylic. No wonder the OG Beanie felt so good.
I assumed the RGB Beanie would be made with the same material ratio, so I didn’t check the product listing beforehand. I understand that this is ultimately my fault as a consumer. After loving the OG Beanie and trusting that the new RGB Beanie would have a similar quality and feel, I was disappointed by that assumption. Linus has always said to never trust any company, including his own.
I was really disappointed that I assumed the new RGB Beanie would be made with the same level of quality. I’m hoping this was just a misstep and that the team can course correct the material ratio for future beanies.
TL;DR,
RGB Beanie 10% wool 90% acrylic ,
OG Beanie 80% wool 20% Acrylic.
Huge downgrade in quality feel. Super disappointed
I was expecting better from LTT.
It isn't super warm, it is too thin and feels cheap.
Ireally wish there was more technical information on products. 30$ wasted...
Cheers
It seems hotter and stiffer and scratchier than the old toques, which to me is worse. But its a good quality hat so far.
I got the large one because of my big head and it fits very nicely, very warm, soft and without any excessive squeeze on the cranium.
Would recommend for all cool headed people in the north.
Wife really likes it
